Why book with us

Ford Transit Servicing & Repairs Oldbury with clear advice.

The Transit is the van we see more than any other. Builders, electricians, plumbers, couriers and small fleets around Oldbury rely on them every day, from the little Transit Connect to the Custom and the full-size Transit. We service them to Ford's schedule, find faults properly with diagnostic equipment and repair them with parts to the right specification. Whatever the age or mileage, we will give you straight advice on what your van needs.

A Transit that is working hard wears certain parts quickly. Clutches and dual-mass flywheels take a beating from heavy loads and stop-start work. Diesel particulate filters block up on vans that never get a long run. Newer EcoBlue vans add AdBlue systems, which can throw up warnings, and the 2.0 EcoBlue uses a timing belt that runs in oil and needs looking after. We know these faults well and check for them every time.

Downtime costs you money, so we keep things simple. We look at the van, tell you what we have found, explain what is urgent and what can wait, and give you a written quote. Nothing is done without your approval. We use oils made to Ford's specification, including low-ash oil for vans with a DPF, and under block exemption rules a service with us keeps your warranty valid.

We are a DVSA-approved Class 4 MOT centre, which covers vans up to 3,000kg design gross weight. That takes in the Transit Connect, Courier and many Transit Customs. Heavier Transits plated over 3,000kg, including the big 3.5 tonne vans, need a Class 7 test, which we do not do. We still service and repair those Transits, and we can do a pre-MOT check so they go to their test ready.

We are a family business and have looked after vehicles in Oldbury since 1991. We see Transits from West Bromwich, Rowley Regis, Smethwick and Halesowen as well. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm, at 93 Park Lane, Oldbury, B69 4LP, and you are welcome to drop in and talk to us. To book a Transit service or talk about a fault, call us on 0121 544 3736 with your registration.

Common questions

How often should I service my Transit?
It depends on the engine and year. Many Transits use a mileage interval or a variable service light, with a time limit of a year or two. A van working hard every day often benefits from an oil change at least once a year. Give us your registration and we will check the right schedule for your van.
Can you MOT my Transit?
If it is plated at up to 3,000kg, yes. That usually includes the Transit Connect, Courier and many Transit Customs. Transits plated over 3,000kg, including 3.5 tonne vans, need a Class 7 test, which we do not do. Check the weight on the plate in the door pillar, or call 0121 544 3736 and we will help.
Why does my Transit judder when pulling away?
A judder from a standstill usually points to a worn clutch or a failing dual-mass flywheel. A rattle at tickover that stops when you press the clutch is another flywheel sign. Heavy loads and stop-start driving speed up the wear. We will road test it and tell you exactly what is worn before quoting.
My Transit has an AdBlue warning. What does it mean?
On EcoBlue Transits, an AdBlue warning can simply mean the tank is low. If it is full and the warning stays, there may be a fault with the pump, heater, sensor or doser. Left alone, the van can count down to a no-start. We read the fault codes and find the cause.
Does the 2.0 EcoBlue have a wet timing belt?
Yes. The 2.0 EcoBlue uses a timing belt that runs in engine oil. Using the correct oil and keeping to the service intervals helps it last. If the belt wears, debris can get into the oil system. We check the belt at the right intervals and replace it when it is due or showing wear.
Why does my Transit keep going into limp mode?
Limp mode protects the engine when it detects a fault. On Transits it is often linked to a blocked DPF, an EGR problem, a boost leak or an AdBlue fault. Driving on can make it worse. We scan the van, look at live data and tell you what is behind it before any work is done.
Will using you affect my Transit's warranty?
No. Block exemption rules let you have your van serviced by an independent garage without losing the Ford warranty, as long as the work follows the schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We do both and record every service so you have proof.
Do you work on Transit Connects and Couriers?
Yes. We service and repair the smaller Transits as well as the Custom and the full-size van. Common jobs include DPF problems on the TDCi diesels, clutches, brakes and wet timing belts on the 1.0 EcoBoost. These smaller vans are Class 4, so we can do the MOT too.
How do I book my Transit in?
Call us on 0121 544 3736, email us or drop in to 93 Park Lane, Oldbury, B69 4LP. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Have your registration ready and tell us what the van is doing, and we will give you a clear quote.
