Brake fluid soaks up water from the air, which lowers its boiling point and corrodes parts inside the system. Most makers want it changed every two years — book it with your service or on its own.

Unlike engine oil, brake fluid does not look much different when it is worn out. The problem is moisture. Under hard or repeated braking, wet fluid can boil and leave you with a soft pedal just when you need it most.
We test the fluid, then flush the old fluid out of each corner and bleed the system with the grade your car is designed for. On cars with ABS pumps that need it, we use diagnostic equipment to cycle the pump during bleeding.

- It can be old or aerated fluid, but a spongy pedal can also mean a leak or a failing master cylinder. We check the whole system rather than just refilling it.
