Why book with us
VW Transporter Servicing & Repairs Oldbury with clear advice.
The Transporter has been a favourite with tradespeople for years. It is comfortable, drives like a car and holds its value, which is why so many are still working long after the warranty has gone. We service and repair T5, T5.1, T6 and T6.1 Transporters at our Oldbury workshop, along with the smaller Caddy and the Crafter. We follow the VW schedule, use the right oils and find faults properly before fixing them.
Transporters have a handful of faults we see often. The 2.0 TDI engine can suffer EGR valve and cooler problems, which bring on warning lights and limp mode. Vans doing short local runs block their DPF. Clutches and dual-mass flywheels wear quickly with heavy loads and town work. Newer T6 and T6.1 vans add AdBlue systems, which can throw up warnings. We know where to look for all of these.
Your van is how you earn, so we keep things simple. We look at it, tell you what we have found and what is urgent, and give you a written quote. Nothing is done without your approval. We use VW-spec oils, including low-ash oil for vans with a DPF, and under block exemption rules a service with us keeps your manufacturer warranty valid.
We are a DVSA-approved Class 4 MOT centre, covering vans up to 3,000kg design gross weight. Transporters badged T28 or T30 usually fall into Class 4, and the Caddy always does, so we can test them here. A T32 is plated over 3,000kg and needs a Class 7 MOT, which we do not do. We still service and repair those vans, and can do a pre-MOT check first.
We are a family business and have looked after vehicles in Oldbury since 1991. We also see VW vans from West Bromwich, Rowley Regis, Smethwick and Halesowen. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm, at 93 Park Lane, Oldbury, B69 4LP, and you are welcome to drop in and talk to us. To book your Transporter in or ask about a fault, call us on 0121 544 3736.

Common questions
- Can you MOT my Transporter?
- If it is plated at up to 3,000kg, yes. Most T28 and T30 Transporters fall into Class 4, and so does every Caddy. A T32 is plated over 3,000kg and needs a Class 7 MOT, which we do not do. Check the weight plate, or call 0121 544 3736 with your registration and we will help.
- Why is my T6 showing an engine warning light?
- There are many possible causes, but on the 2.0 TDI we often find EGR faults, DPF problems, sensor faults or AdBlue issues. The light alone does not tell you which. We read the fault codes, check live data and confirm the cause before quoting, so you do not pay for parts you did not need.
- How often does a Transporter need a timing belt?
- The 2.0 TDI uses a timing belt, and the replacement interval depends on the engine and year. It is a job worth doing on time, because a snapped belt can wreck the engine. We will check your van's history and VW's interval and tell you when it is due.
- Why does my Transporter judder when pulling away?
- Judder from a standstill usually means a worn clutch or dual-mass flywheel. Heavy loads, towing and stop-start work all speed up the wear. A rattle at tickover that disappears when you press the clutch points to the flywheel. We road test the van and tell you what is worn.
- My Transporter keeps blocking its DPF. Why?
- The DPF needs a good run at steady speed to burn off soot. Vans doing short local trips rarely manage that. Faulty sensors, EGR problems and the wrong oil can make it worse. We find out what is behind it and advise whether a regeneration, a clean or a replacement is needed.
- Do you service the Caddy too?
- Yes. We service and repair the Caddy as well as the Transporter and Crafter. Common Caddy jobs include DPF and EGR faults, clutches and brakes. The Caddy is a small van and always Class 4, so we can do its MOT here at the same time.
- Will using you affect my VW warranty?
- No. Block exemption rules mean an independent garage can service your van without affecting the manufacturer warranty, as long as the work follows the schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We do both and record each service.
- How do I book my Transporter in?
- Call us on 0121 544 3736 or drop in to 93 Park Lane, Oldbury, B69 4LP. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Have your registration and mileage ready, tell us what the van is doing, and we will give you a clear quote.
