Why book with us
Mercedes Sprinter Servicing & Repairs Oldbury with clear advice.
The Sprinter is the big workhorse of the van world. Couriers, removal firms, builders and fleets run them hard, often doing hundreds of miles a week fully loaded. We service and repair Sprinters of all generations at our Oldbury workshop, from older T1N vans through the NCV3 to the current model, plus the Vito and Citan. We follow the Mercedes schedule, use oils to the right specification and find faults properly before fixing them.
Sprinters have a few faults we see again and again. Older vans suffer from rust on the sills, arches and door bottoms. Injector seals can leak on the CDI diesels, which shows up as a puffing noise and black carbon around the injectors. Euro 6 vans use AdBlue, and faulty sensors, heaters or pumps can bring on warnings and a countdown to a no-start. Short-run vans can also block their DPF.
If your Sprinter is off the road, it is costing you. We will diagnose it, tell you what is urgent and what can wait, and give you a written quote. Nothing is done without your approval. Under block exemption rules a service with us, using parts and oils to the right specification, keeps your manufacturer warranty valid, so there is no need to go back to a dealer.
Most Sprinters are plated at 3,500kg, which puts them in MOT Class 7. We do not carry out Class 7 tests, so those vans need to go elsewhere for the MOT itself. We still service and repair them, and we can do a pre-MOT check to deal with likely fails first. Lighter vans plated at up to 3,000kg, including most Vitos, are Class 4 and we can test them here.
We are a family business and have looked after vehicles in Oldbury since 1991, for drivers and businesses in West Bromwich, Rowley Regis, Smethwick and Halesowen too. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm, at 93 Park Lane, Oldbury, B69 4LP, and you are welcome to drop in and talk to us. Common questions
- Can you MOT my Sprinter?
- Most Sprinters are plated at 3,500kg, which is MOT Class 7, and we do not do Class 7 tests. If your Sprinter is plated at up to 3,000kg, it is Class 4 and we can test it. Check the weight on the plate in the door pillar, or call 0121 544 3736 with the registration. We service and repair all Sprinters either way.
- What causes AdBlue warnings on a Sprinter?
- A low tank is the simple answer, but if it is full and the light stays on, the cause is usually a NOx sensor, the AdBlue heater, pump or doser. The van may count down to a no-start. Topping up will not clear a real fault, so we read the codes and test the parts before replacing anything.
- What is an injector seal leak?
- The seal under each injector stops combustion gas escaping. When it fails, gas and fuel blow past, causing a puffing or ticking noise and a black tar-like build-up around the injector. Left too long, the injector can become hard to remove. We check for it on every Sprinter we see.
- Is rust a problem on Sprinters?
- It can be, especially on older T1N and NCV3 vans. Sills, door bottoms, wheel arches and the rear of the van are common places. Rust near load-bearing parts can fail an MOT. We check for corrosion when we service the van and tell you what needs attention.
- How often should a Sprinter be serviced?
- Sprinters use a service indicator that sets the interval based on use, usually with a time limit as well. A busy van can reach its mileage quickly. Give us your registration and current mileage, and we will tell you what service is due and what it includes.
- Do you work on the Vito and Citan as well?
- Yes. We service and repair the Vito and Citan as well as the Sprinter. Most Vitos are plated at up to 3,000kg, which makes them Class 4, so we can MOT them here too. The Citan is a small van and is Class 4.
- Will using you affect my Sprinter warranty?
- No. Under block exemption rules you can use an independent garage for servicing without losing the manufacturer warranty, as long as the schedule is followed and the parts and oils meet the right specification. We do both and record the work.
- My Sprinter has lost power. What should I check?
- Loss of power is often down to a blocked DPF, an EGR fault, a boost leak, an injector problem or an AdBlue fault putting the van into limp mode. Keep driving to a minimum. We will scan the van and check live data to find the cause before quoting.
- How do I book my Sprinter in?
- Call us on 0121 544 3736 or drop in to 93 Park Lane, Oldbury, B69 4LP. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Tell us the registration and what the van is doing, and we will give you a clear quote before we start.
